Helena Kaushik Women's College: A College for Women documentary about the Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women’s P.G. College directed by Sanjay Singh had its world premiere at the first Pravasi Film Festival on January 5. 2010. It had a special screening at the Press Club of India in Delhi on January 7, 2010. Founder of Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women's College and Chairman of Helena Kaushik Education Foundation. He is a professor of Economics at PACE University, and a staunch proponent of closing the gender gap. Helena Kaushik Women's College is improving standards at international, national, and local levels for a better world through women's education and empowerment.

Dr. Kaushik received his Bachelor degree from Poddar College in Nawalgarh, Jhunjhunu district in 1965, and M.A. in economics from the Department of Economics, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, in 1967, Certificate in Research Methods at the Institute of Economic Growth in Delhi in 1968, registered doctoral candidate at the Delhi School of Economics in 1969, and Ph.D. in economics from Boston University, USA in 1976.

Before joining Pace University in New York City and Westchester, New York, in 1981 where he is a professor of finance, Dr. Kaushik taught in Boston area at Boston University, Northeastern University, Lowell Technological Institute (now University of Massachusetts, Lowell, Boston State College (now part of the University of Massachusetts, Boston), and Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Dr. Kauhik has numerous publications – books, edited books, articles in finance and economics to his credit over the last 40 years since his first academic publication in Artha Vijnana in 1969.

Dr. Kaushik established Mrs. Helena Kaushik Women’s College in 1999 in his native village Malsisar, District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, where there was no college in a 35‐kilometer radius, let alone a women’s college. It is a fully accredited college in the University of Rajasthan system. It does not charge tuition because of generally low incomes of area residents. It is financed from American private donations from individuals and foundations that believe in the power of education and give back to society beyond their own families and relatives.

Dr. Kaushik was awarded the Aruna Asaf Ali Sadhbhavana (Goodwill) Award of the Minorities League of India, Hind Rattan Award of the NRI Society of India, and Shiromani Rashtriya Vikas Award of the Delhi Telugu Academy, among others. The New York State Assembly honored the College on its 10th Anniversary by a Legislative Resolution in April 2009. The resolution co‐sponsored by some 45 Assembly members was presented to Dr. Kaushik in the well of the Assembly on May 15, 2009 by Hon. Sandy Galef representing the 90th Assembly District. He is a member of the Mewar Shiromani Sabha, established by Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, India, since August 2009. Children’s Hope India honored Dr. Kaushik with Making a Difference Award on at its gala fundraising event in New York City on October11, 2009. New Jersey General Assembly honored Dr. Kaushik with Assembly Resolution in May 2010.



Dr Kaushik also received the "Pravasi Bharatiya Samman" awards from the President Pratibha Patil for his outstanding contributions in enhancing India's image globally in January 2012.

Pravasi Bharatiya Samman is the highest award conferred by the Indian government on Non-resident Indians and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and institutions run by them for their contribution in serving the Indian diaspora and enhancing India's image in different parts of the world.

Dr. Kaushik has been selected as the recipient of the Pace University Bronze Medal Jefferson Award for 2011-2012.
