In late November, the Ivory Coast held a presidential election. The winner, Alassane Ouattara, is currently besieged in a hotel room in Abidjan. The incumbent president, Laurent Gbagbo, is refusing to turn over the reigns. The international community, including the United States, wants Gbagbo to relent and respect the election results.
