Music has served as perhaps the main survival of African culture because it was used to tell stories, share information and communicate complex emotions or experience. Please use this section sparingly. Finding innovative new music in the face of so much imitation can seem an insurmountable task. POETRY-AND-SPOKEN-WORDS

Spoken word is often used as a musical or entertainment term, referring to works or performances that consist solely or mostly of one person speaking as if naturally. Musically, this is distinct from rapping, as rapping incorporates rhythm and sometimes melody, whereas spoken word is more akin to narration or speaking as the person would in conversation. In entertainment, spoken word performances generally consist of storytelling or sometimes poetry, something exemplified by people. Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, it’s apparent meaning. Poetry may be written independently, as discrete poems, or may occur in conjunction with other arts, as in poetic drama, hymns, lyrics, or prose poetry.  Oral history involves interviewing a person or group to get an inside perspective into what it was like to live in a particular time or is like to live as the member of a particular group within a society. African history are still been handed down in many parts of African communities worldwide.
